1) On Thursday 20th January there was the first combined team meeting of the Chief Scouts Challenge Teams at 2nd Onchan Headquarters. The meeting was to determine the teams. James Ramsey did not attend this meeting as he was at a 1st Douglas Scout meeting.

2) There was a meeting at Andrew Galka’s on Monday 24th January between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. It was the first single group meeting at his house to which James Ramsey was invited. We discussed the venue for our hike and came to the conclusion that the Isle of Wight would be a great place to cycle round.

3) Between the hours of 7.30 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. on Wednesday 9th February the meeting discussed navigation skills.

4) On 14th February at James Betteridge's house the venue of our trip was changed from the Isle of Wight as the perimeter of the Island we were going to cycle around was not long enough. We therefore decided to do the Coast to Coast route from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay.

5) The meeting on Monday 21st February was held between 7.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. at James Betteridge’s house to decide what equipment would be needed for the expedition, including panniers, helmets and suitable roadworthy bikes.

9) On Monday 27th May Mrs Betteridge took us down to King William's College to see Major Turner, who was going to talk to us and show us how we should care for our bikes. Mr Turner also showed us vital and handy equipment, like tie ropes that will keep anything loose from falling off.

10) The Parents’ Evening was scheduled for 3rd April and Scouts, along with their Mums and Dads, arrived at James Betteridge’s home at 7.00 p.m. Lots of points were discussed and suggestions given. Mr Galka suggested not going too fast in case the frame collapses under pressure. Many of the parents questioned our team work.

11) 6th Douglas Scout Hall on 5th April saw the arrangements for our training hike on 13th and 14th May. The night was concentrated on first aid and route plans. Mike stated that he needed the completed route plans six weeks before the Challenge for checking.

12) On 3rd May all the challengers met once again at 6th Douglas Scout Hall. The training hike dates were confirmed and a time of 2.00 p.m. was set for meeting at King William’s College. Dates for our Presentation were thought of.

13) At Andrew’s house the team name puzzled all. Kit was discussed and it was decided that only one person need bring the equipment i.e. Alan keys, spoke tighteners and spare inner tube. A menu was jotted down and the cycle route was looked over.

14) The route plans were started and each member of the team was given a day to fill in. The maps were looked at and the best camping fields were picked out. On average the team will cycle forty miles a day. Mike warned us that we had to write a page to introduce ourselves.

15) At Andrew’s on 19th June Mike checked our route plans and helped us with the height gained and estimated time of arrival.

16) On 25th June the meeting was held at James Ramsey’s. New equipment was looked at along with a final check up on the bikes. The rest of the time was taken up going over the Presentation times.

18) The Team met again on 18th July and Mike gave us information about the Troop contacts in Penrith, in case we were going to stop there, and the address of the makers of the map, in case we wanted to purchase one.

19) At Andrew’s house we were told the final travelling details to St Bees and route verification and list of photographs needed.

20) On 13th September, the meeting held again at Andrew’s house, the exhibition was completed. Labelling of the photographs was discussed. Mike ran through the order of the Presentation and told us what and what not to include. The dates for the Troop Presentations were formalised.

30) On 13th November we got together at James B's to go through all the faults that had occurred at the Troop Presentation so they could be corrected.

31) At James Ramsey's we completed the commentary for the project at Killhope so it would be ready for the logbook.
