The day consisted of simulating the arrival at a campsite, pitching a tent, cooking an evening meal, simulating the night and then cooking a full English breakfast. Before we arrived at the Ellersie Farm we packed our kit and bought our food at Shoprite.

The day was successful with the team working well together. The tents were efficiently erected, kit was stowed and the evening meal was soon under way.

Cooking was by way of trangia stoves fuelled with meths. The evening meal consisted of pot noodles, an army pack of chicken casserole preceded with soup of the day… tomato.

After we had cooked the evening meal we had to cook a full breakfast consisting of eggs, bacon, tomatoes, sausages, fried bread and beans. Unfortunately Nick was not very good at cooking eggs - they were more like rubber eggs.

Our tents on our Training day

The kind farmer's wife allowed us the use of a freshwater tap which was okay as long as you had no fear of cows!

We were told the day would be long and when the day ended we realised why. The day started at 11.00 a.m. and finished at 4.00 p.m. As the day drew to a close we took our tents down, cleared everything away, making sure that the field looked like it was when we arrived.
